Kingswood marks over 200 years of Preaching!

Sunday February 15^th saw a unique event in the life of the Bristol ( Kingswood ) Circuit. A congregation of over 200 celebrated the long service of five Local Preachers. Certificates were presented to Mr Bert Saunders (60 years), Mrs Norma Cradock (50 years), Mr Tim Lansdown (40 years), all of whom are still preaching, and two retired Preachers Charles Taylor and Alan Britton both 40 years.

At the service, conducted by the Reverend Malcolm Richards, ten new Worship Leaders were also commissioned. The packed Unity Warmley Tower Church heard Mr Saunders relate how he actually began preaching some years before his accreditation in 1944. Mrs Cradock told of how she received a ‘note to preach’ whilst still a schoolgirl in Ealing and Acton in West London . Tim Lansdown spoke of his coming on to Full Plan in Bristol (Bedminster) and serving in Swindon and Weston –Super- Mare before settling in Kingswood .

There was a profound atmosphere of thanksgiving in the service and in the fellowship that followed, for the commitment to the Methodist Church of a group of preachers with over 200 years service between them.
